Down Syndrome Parent Group of WNY
Conference a Success
(June/July 2003)

Over 100 parents and professionals attended the "Building A Brighter Tomorrow" Conference hosted by the Down Syndrome Parent Group (DSPG) of WNY on Saturday, March 29, 2003. Every attendee listened with rapt attention as keynote speaker Karen Gaffney told how she became the first person with Down Syndrome to take part in a relay swim across the English Channel. She also shared her many other accomplishments with the audience.

In addition, Dr. Anthony Vetrano from Century-Airport Pediatrics addressed the group, speaking about behavior and developmental issues facing children. The Parent Network of WNY was a large part of the conference, offering six different workshops, as well as providing a wealth of information to attending parents.
