Working Together, Navigating Two Systems

MSC Supervisors, come learn about working with both the Erie County Department of Social Services (DSS) and the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).

MSC CORE Training

Date: March 15, 2012
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Location: Early Childhood Direction Center (ECDC)
               3131 Sheridan Drive
               Amherst, NY 14226

MSC CORE is OPWDD's mandated introductory training for Service Coordinators within the OPWDD system. This course focuses on the major roles and responsibilities of Service Coordinators, offers an introduction to developmental disabilities and provides an overview of services and supports available to people with developmental disabilities. This course must be completed within six months of employment as an MSC.

MSCs and MSC Supervisors will receive 7 CEU credits.

This workshop will challenge participants to examine their current time management and prioritization practices and encourage the development of new habits to better master the time available. Participants will receive a workbook that can serve as an ongoing resource and development tool.

What is Special Education and where do you start? Participants will learn the steps in the Special Education process and learn what to expect at meetings of the Committee on Special Education (CSE) (Preschool - CPSE). Families will learn how to be an active part of the process and walk away with resources for the future.
